Job update

Actually I asked the company not to give me a job offer yet since I'm still investigating one last promising lead. I would only have one or two weeks to respond to the job offer, which isn't enough time to fully investigate the other lead. I asked the company to delay the offer until I'm ready to make a decision.
The other lead is located in Silicon Valley. When I submitted my resume, I wasn't even serious about it and wasn't expecting a callback from the company, although it's the only company I would consider moving to California for. If I did get a reasonable offer, it would be quite a difficult decision. I guess I really shouldn't think about it until I actually have an offer from them. The least I would get out of it is a free trip to the bay area :)
I'll post more updates when I get them.

Pending job offer!

I was informed today that I will be receiving a job offer (from the company I talked to last Friday). I actually haven't seen the offer yet, but I assume it will be good. If it is, then I'll definitely accept it despite the fact that I still have other leads outstanding. The main disadvantage of the new job is the location from my home. Currently, my drive is about 15-20 minutes, whereas the new job will be about 45 minutes away. Besides that, I think everything will be great! It'll be quite a contrast going from one of the largest, most bureaucratic employers in the world to a small, flat, efficient company (<100 employees). I'm so tired of all the politics and bullshit that goes on at my current employer. All my peers are quite intelligent and hard-working, so there's no way to really standout unless you play the politics game.

Interview

I have an all day onsite interview tomorrow with a small company (<100 employees) and I'm hoping it'll go well. The only negative side is that I'm taking a vacation day, which they highly recommended instead of doing several shorter interviews over several days.

I had an interview scheduled with another company, but they cancelled it because they said they couldn't hire anyone until March. They said they would contact me at that time, or I could contact them again if I don't hear from them.

A friend, who I gave my resume to, said his company was interested and they'll be getting back to me to schedule a phone interview.

I think my job search is proceeding along fairly well. We'll see what happens next.
