My frozen car

I found my car encapsulated in a sheet of ice this morning. Today was the first time I had driven it since Sunday evening. In the first picture, the ice on the windshield is about half an inch thich, whereas you can see that the ice is almost an inch thick in the second picture! Luckily, it wasn't too hard to remove since it came off in large chunks.

Snow in Austin

We got snow today! The last time we had snow in Austin was Valentines Day 2004, so it's been almost 3 years! Snow is a pretty big deal in Austin, since we get it less than once a year.

I spent another day working from home. If tomorrow is another bad weather day, I think I'll just relax and not work... I spoke to one of my co-workers, and he says he didn't do anything today or yesterday because he can't connect to work with his home computer and his work laptop is at work. Let's hope for another day of freezing rain, sleet, and snow!

Work site closed due to weather!

Due to freezing rain, the whole city is basically shut down! Unfortunately, due to the magic of the internet, I'm working from home instead of having a free day :(

Blu-Ray

I watched a few minutes of a Blu-Ray movie on my friend's HD TV (1080p) and was quite impressed with the quality. The picture was crystal clear with no blockiness at all. With respect to quality, going from DVD to Blu-Ray is as good or better than going from VHS to DVD.
I'll consider getting a Blu-Ray player when the price drops to a reasonable amount (under $100 for me) which will probably take 2 years.
