Hot! Hot! Hot!
The temperature here in Austin has been 100+ degrees for the past 5+ days, reaching a maximum of 108 degrees! 108 degrees is an ALL time record for the month of September. This heat can't last too much longer as we're entering into October.

Forgot to mention this in my previous post about ACL: During ACL Fest, I unexpectedly saw an old college buddy that I hadn't seen in 7 years. He was my neighbor in the dorms during my first and second year in college. He had transferred out to a different school after my second year and I hadn't heard from him since. He had flown in just for ACL fest for the weekend from Chicago. He just happened to spot and recognize me. This is a pretty freak occurrence, since he wasn't expecting me and there were 65000+ people at the festival. He said I looked exactly the same as before. After talking to him, I found out that he had switched into CS after transferring out of UIUC and is now working at Accenture doing Java programming. I would never have thought he would switch into CS since he wasn't the technical type. I'm glad everything worked out well for him.

Time to start packing... Gotta fly to Chicago tomorrow...

Just got back from ACL festival.
It was pretty amazing. There were tons of bands, more than I could see. Below is the list of bands I saw in chronological order:
Mates of Slate
Spoon
Blues Traveler
The Allman Brothers Band
The Black Crowes
The Frames
Death Cab for Cutie
The Walkmen
Jet
Bloc Party
Oasis
The Bravery
Jason Mraz
The Decemberists
Franz Ferdinand
Coldplay

I was really excited to see Oasis. I've been wanting to see them since the early days of college. Now that I've seen them, I can mark them off my list of to-see-bands. It was neat seeing Coldplay. I haven't heard too much of their work, except for the few radio songs. After hearing more of their songs, I think they have a similar style to U2.

I can't believe how hot it was. According to weather.com, the high temperature during the 3 days was 107 degrees. This is a record high for the month of September for Austin. I actually wish Rita would have given us some rain. Rain would've cooled the area down a little and also would have prevented the big dust bowl near the end of the festival. There was so must dust in the air, I felt like I was in a fog. Everyone was covering there nose and mouths with bandanas and t-shirts.

Rita is heading towards the east Texas. Austin will be spared, but I think we will still have plenty of rain. In preperation, I've purchased a case of bottled water, but I don't think it's really necessary.

Looks Like Rita is heading straight towards Austin! If the forecasters are correct, the storm will reach Austin by Saturday, ruining my weeked plans at ACL Festival. I'll be definately watching Rita very closely.

According to the AP, "Forecasters said Rita could be the most intense hurricane on record ever to hit Texas, and easily one of the most powerful ever to plow into the U.S. mainland. Category 5 is the highest on the scale, and only three Category 5 hurricanes are known to have hit the U.S. mainland — most recently, Andrew"

My first posting

I've been wanting to start a blog for quite a while, and here it is! I couldn't get the name I wanted so I chose the next closest name (rand0m-thoughts.blogspot.com). This blog will contain whatever random thoughts come into my mind.
