Blu-Ray

I watched a few minutes of a Blu-Ray movie on my friend's HD TV (1080p) and was quite impressed with the quality. The picture was crystal clear with no blockiness at all. With respect to quality, going from DVD to Blu-Ray is as good or better than going from VHS to DVD.
I'll consider getting a Blu-Ray player when the price drops to a reasonable amount (under $100 for me) which will probably take 2 years.

So you're going Blu-Ray over HD DVD? I'll wait a few years, too, for them to battle it out and see if there's a clear winner.

have you ever watched a dvd on an upsampling dvd player? if you watch a dvd at 1080i or 720p vs the standard 480p, you won't feel as much need to move to BD or HD-DVD.

Ive got both upscaling and blu-ray and going blu ray is a noticable difference esp. on a large tv. however, i dont got 1080P tv to compare either...

but if u do want a cheap way now, go for upscaling player. Oppo's got an upscaling 1080p out!
