Why project managers are morons!

Every week at work, we always have a status meeting. During this past week's meeting, the manager asks if I'm going to have a plan to solve all my problems by the end of the month. The problem is that my issues are difficult to solve and requires much trial and error. There isn't a set of actions that I can take that will definitively solve my problems. The problems are solved in many small steps (if it's solvable at all). And as I get closer to the goal, it gets more and more difficult to make any progress since I will have exhausted all my ideas.

I can come up with a plan to solve my problems, but even if I follow it exactly, I still may not solve everything. I don't think my manager understands that. He thinks that if I come up with a plan and follow it, then everything will be peachy keen. My job isn't like building a house. I don't just follow a bunch of steps and everything is done!
